1960's WESTERN Bowie Fighting Knife. Standard Western but has all kinds of Vietnam modifications. The handle has been wrapped in what looks like some sort of Gaffers tape, for padding. The sheath has has lots of tape applied to it also and then has an odd camo pattern paint job. The taped areas show lots of field use.
This came out of a very old and respected collection, and the collector, when he was alive, always claimed he got it from the "BLUE MAX" Lt Col. Ludwig Faistenhammer, CO B Company, 5th SF. I can't prove this as the collector had no proof attached to it, but I knew him for many years and he never lied about any piece in his collecion. Included with the knife is a black and white photo of the Blue Max in jump gear.
