WWII US Marine Corps Tarawa Campaign Killed In Action Purple Heart. Early split broach style medal. Beautiful engraving to a Pvt who was killed in the first wave of the attack on Tarawa on November 20th, 1943. He was a member of Company G, 2ndBn, 8thMar, 2ndMarDiv, Fleet Marine Force. Medal shows some slight storage wear. Wish we had more info but came out of a local antique market from a vendor who couldn't remember where they found it originally. Incredible piece.
